WE ARE NATURE
(Considerations on the Anthropocene) Author : João Meirinhos Location : Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Siberia and Mongolia Filmed during Cinema du Desert's journey to Mongolia by land in 2015. This country is a drastic example of the upcoming perils of desertification and ever lowering temperatures during Winter that are forcing the local population to give up their traditional nomadic lifestyle and move to a problematic and polluted capital city. Using the technique of timelapse we attempted to convey a message of global urgency and simultaneously a call out for social participation and perseverance towards the shared responsibility of our environment. We are organizing our next mission to Greece for the end of September. We are taking a van and truck from Mutonia to the camps near Thessaoniki. We will fill both with winter aid- clothes, blankets, shoes, which we have already collected and which are stored in Mutonia, aswell as taking over the cinema from CdD. Cinema du Desert is proud to be part of the next expedition with S.A.F.E. In the first mission (June 2016) we filled up our cinema-truck with the goods donated and we went to Greece bringing with us not only the donations, but also a bit of fun and joy (thanx to Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times"). The response of the people in front of our screen was amazing, its very difficult to explain but these people really need movies and moments to share... because all of this we decided to join S.A.F.E again and bring some more movies". We will photograph and document our mission, meeting up with already estabished contacts within the refugee and volunteer communities. We hope to have and give a better understanding of the conditions the people now face, aswell as delivering the donations we have collected and putting on the cinema in the camps. For this we need to raise some funds...£2000 to get the van and truck from Italy to Thessaloniki. Please can you help by giving a small donation, every little helps and it will all be going directly to where it is needed most. YOU CAN DONATE HERE: https://fundrazr.com/919sNb THANK YOU! video SAFE: https://vimeo.com/163010243 Between 5 expeditions to West Africa, one long 9-month journey to Mongolia, a recent North Italian free cinema tour, one small trip to bring humanitarian aid to Syrian Refugee Camps in Greece and working at many alternative festivals around Europe from Boom, to Sonica, to Ozora... the Cinema du Desert Truck Team has so far traveled more than 100.000 kms. (since 2009) bringing Joy and Fun directly to where it is most needed and unexpected! But these trips have their costs! Here's our new Italian crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to make the next expeditions to Greece & Burkina-Faso become a reality... Spread the word! Spread the love! Spread the revolution!
https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/919sNb/pay This is what we have to offer in exchange for your solidarity: http://linkpdb.me/11715 Our new partners Connect4Climate are putting together this incredible opportunity for professional and amateur filmmakers worldwide with a passion for film and climate issues!!!
Building upon the extraordinary success of our Action4Climate documentary film competition in 2014 with more than 230 stories from 70 countries, the competition invites young filmmakers (14-35 years old) across the world to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) (less than 1min) or a Short Film (1-5min) with an emphasis on climate actions and solutions. Significant cash and equipment prizes will be awarded to the winning entries chosen by our international jury. The winners will be awarded at an official high-profile ceremony at the UN Climate Summit (COP22) that will take place in Marrakech, Morocco in November. We are really looking forward to gathering and sharing young people’s powerful climate messages worldwide!
